This animal is the white rhino, which is currently being protected from poachers by being put in this reserve. He was being tracked just like the elephant, for the same reasons. He was seen in the same spot the next day which is the next picture. And he was also seen relatively close to the lion pride’s territory. I felt a little scared for him once I realized where he was and where the lions were in relation to him.This is the same rhino as in the photo above and we found him by tracking his footsteps that he left in the dirt. The first time, he had birds eating the bugs and stuff off of him, but this time he didn’t. We also saw similar rhinos in different locations, but we couldn’t tell if it was the same one or not.
Rhino Facts: The word “rhinoceros” comes from the Greek words “rhino” (which means “nose”) and “ceros” (which means “horn”). The white rhino is the heaviest rhino, with the black rhino being the lightest. There are only about 5000 black rhinos alive.
